WASHINGTON, UT - J. Miland "Mike" Sargent passed away peacefully in San Juan Capistrano, California on November 11, 2015 at 70 years of age. He is survived by two children, Mark Sargent (Christine) of Phoenix, AZ, and Heidi Wharton of Ladera Ranch, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Kristine, Tyler, Ashley, Jason and Nicolas. In addition, he is survived by three siblings: Sharee (Greg) Tobler, Robin (Lisa), and George Ryan (Laura) Sargent.

He is preceded in death by his father, George A. Sargent of Rigby, ID: mother, Evah A. Sargent of Rigby, ID: brother, Dave Sargent of Ogden, UT; and sister, Joyce Rudd of Jackson Hole, WY.

Mike was born on July 27, 1945 in Ogden, UT to George and Evah. He graduated from Weber State College in 1977 with a degree in Police Science and Political Science. Mike began working in law enforcement starting 1967 and held several different positions including highway patrol trooper and parole officer.

He served in the US Navy as a sonar technician for four years aboard the USS Perry and traveled the world. He had a passion for cars, family, history, movies and current events. Mike loved living in southern Utah and being close to family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Washington Fields LDS Ward Chapel, 1835 South Washington Fields Road, Washington, UT. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be held in the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
