BRIGHAM CITY – Lynda Dean Bybee Simmons, 69, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 with her family by her side.
Lynda was born on March 13, 1945 in Brigham City, Utah a daughter of George Mark and Lydia J. Bell Bybee.
Lynda married Vernon Robert Velasquez on February 1, 1961, to this marriage came three children: Anita, Lance and Kristina. They later divorced. She married, the love of her life, Roger B. Simmons on April 8, 1978, and his three children Steven, Denise and Cathryn joined her family.
Lynda was very determined to graduate from High School before her oldest daughter, she beat Anita by one day.
Lynda had incredible faith in God and was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. She was involved in the Vacation Bible School with her husband and grandchildren by her side.
She and her dog Keystone, volunteered with Intermountain Animal Therapy for 10 years.
Her greatest joy was her family and grandchildren, whom she enjoyed watching in their sports, activities, playing cards and having tea parties.
Lynda would always say "I'm No Sissy, I hiked the Grand Canyon five times". She enjoyed each trip with her dear friend Joyce. She also enjoyed swimming, hiking, yoga, running, and long walks with her dog Oreo. Lynda was very committed and passionate about helping others in Alanon and Alateen of Utah.
She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips in the RV with her sweetheart, Roger.

Surviving are her sweetheart Roger, children: Anita Marie Hindberg (Matt Romer), Brigham City; Lance Robert (LaTaschia) Velasquez, West Haven; Kristina (Lalo) Herrera, Brigham City; Steven Michael (Marie) Simmons, Mountain View, CA; Denise JoAnn Achelis, Sandy; Cathryn Lynn Buchanan, Brigham City; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-grandson due any day. Sisters: Georgene (Carl) Smith, Ogden; Judy (Jim) Higley, Ogden; Debbie (Mike) Bradford, Brigham City.
Preceded in death by her father George Mark Bybee; mother Lydia Hunsaker; and stepfather Ferron Hunsaker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society.
