Evelyn "Effie" Faith Wilson Brunson, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2012, from complications associated with ALS. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born March 25, 1945, to Marcus "Mack" and Mabel Wilson in Brigham City, Utah.
Evelyn was raised in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School. She was a registered nurse, graduating first in her class from St. Benedict's School of Nursing in 1966. She took additional training from the University of Utah. She graduated from the USAF Flight School in San Antonio, TX, also first in her class. She worked for Ogden Regional Hospital, as a flight nurse in the USAF Reserves, as a registered nurse for the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and ended her career as a patient care coordinator for home care companies in the area. She spent most of her life in Layton and Kaysville, UT. She married James A. Brunson May 14, 1971. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, UT Temple.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, James A. Brunson of Kaysville; children: Dr. Todd (Trudy) Brunson of Palm Desert, CA; Dr. Emily K Brunson of Kyle, TX; Rebecca (Daniel) Simpson of Kaysville; Matthew (Lindsay) Brunson of Kaysville; grandchildren: Jake, Jessica, Kyle, Samuel, Elijah, Berkeley, McCall, Clayton; and one great granddaughter Bella Rose (deceased). She is also survived by siblings Arlene (Delbert) Higley of Clearfield, UT; Delores (Frank) Williams and Joel (Jan) Wilson, both of Plain City, UT. She was preceded in death by her sister Jeannette (Norman) Sant of Sunset, UT.
Evelyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many callings. She served missions in the Atlanta, GA Temple (January 2003--July 2004) and in the Kaysville Home Storage Center (March 2009--February 2011). She also served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful, UT Temple for 7 years.
Her greatest joys in life were the Gospel and her family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 12:00 pm, at the Kaysville East Stake Center, 201 South 600 East, Kaysville, with Bishop Mark Vallace officiating. Friends and family may visit Friday, January 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, UT, and at the Kaysville East Stake Center from 11:00-11:45 am prior to the funeral. Internment at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
